Basketball Speed & Agility Testing

Basketball performance is built on first-step explosiveness, lateral quickness, and repeated vertical power. EPP tests all three with professional-standard equipment.

Suitable for: Youth basketball players (U10–U18), adult club players, academy-level basketball athletes

What We Test
The Basketball Testing Battery

Every EPP basketball assessment covers these five tests using Photon Sports timing gates, high-speed cameras, and force-platform analysis. Results delivered as a full written report within 48 hours.

1
First-step acceleration (0–10m)
The most game-relevant speed quality in basketball. Getting past a defender depends entirely on the first 2–3 steps.
2
Countermovement jump and reactive strength
Jump height and RSI are primary predictors of rebounding, shot-blocking, and finishing ability.
3
5-0-5 bilateral agility
Basketball demands equal lateral quality in both directions. Asymmetries above 10% are flagged for unilateral correction.
4
Force-velocity profile
Basketball players frequently sit in a velocity-deficit profile — they benefit from more strength-oriented work than their training typically includes.
5
Sprint with splits
Court-length sprint analysis — basketball courts are 28m, the full acceleration phase of every sprint.
What the Data Shows
Why This Matters for Basketball

Basketball is one of the most under-tested sports in UK youth development. The vertical jump is sometimes tracked — but without FV profiling and bilateral symmetry data, coaches are missing the most actionable information. A player who cannot jump higher is often limited by a force deficit correctable within one 8-week block.
