Youth Strength & Conditioning Classes in Birmingham — What Parents Need to Know

By Ben Royal · Elite Player Performance

Youth strength and conditioning has moved from the preserve of professional academies to mainstream grassroots sport. Both the UKSCA and NSCA confirm that properly supervised youth resistance training is safe, beneficial and low-risk when age-appropriately programmed. EPP delivers youth S&C classes in Birmingham from just £10 per session.

Is Strength Training Safe for Young Athletes?

Yes, with three conditions: proper supervision by a qualified coach, age-appropriate programme design (movement quality before load), and individualisation to the athlete's developmental stage. EPP follows the Youth Physical Development model. U8–U11 sessions focus on fundamental movement and bodyweight patterns. U12–U16 introduces progressive loading with an emphasis on movement quality under load.

What Do EPP Youth S&C Classes Cover?

EPP youth S&C sessions focus on movement quality, athletic strength, explosive power and injury prevention. Sessions are 60 minutes and are sport-aware — programming complements rather than conflicts with the athlete's club training schedule. Where an athlete has been through an EPP performance assessment, their 6-week training block is built directly around their data.
