SAQ Training in Birmingham — What It Is and Why Youth Athletes Need It

By Ben Royal · Elite Player Performance

SAQ — Speed, Agility and Quickness — is the structured training methodology used by elite academies and professional clubs to develop the physical qualities that underpin performance in almost every sport. EPP delivers SAQ classes for youth athletes aged U8 to U18 across seven venues in Birmingham, Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, Coleshill and Manchester — from just £10 per session.

What SAQ Training Develops

Speed: Linear sprint mechanics, acceleration technique, stride frequency and stride length optimisation.

Agility: The ability to decelerate, change direction and re-accelerate efficiently. EPP SAQ sessions use 505 drills, T-tests and reactive agility protocols that transfer directly to match environments.

Quickness: Reactive speed — responding to a stimulus and producing movement rapidly. EPP uses light-based reactive drills that train the nervous system alongside the muscular system.
