Football Testing — Birmingham & Manchester

Is Your Footballer Training the Right Thing?

A force-velocity profile tells us whether your player needs more gym work or more sprint training. Most youth footballers are training the wrong quality. One 60-minute session tells you exactly what to change.

What We Measure
The Football Testing Battery

Every EPP football assessment covers these tests using Photon Sports timing gates and high-speed cameras. Full written report within 48 hours.

1
30m sprint — 10m & 20m splits
Identifies which phase of acceleration is limiting your player. The 0–10m split is the most game-relevant distance in football.
2
Force-velocity profile
The key data point. Determines whether the player needs more force work (gym) or velocity work (sprint training). Position-specific interpretation included.
3
5-0-5 bilateral agility
Left vs right cutting efficiency. Asymmetry above 10% elevates ACL risk — found in the majority of youth players we test.
4
Countermovement jump
Explosive power output. Predictive of first step explosiveness and aerial ability.
5
Sprint mechanics camera analysis
Overstriding, arm mechanics, hip drive — invisible at full speed, visible on camera.
Why It Matters
The Most Common Finding in Youth Football

In our data from 300+ assessments, youth footballers are the most likely sport group to present with a velocity deficit — they have adequate strength but have never done speed-specific training. Most club S&C programmes prescribe more gym work. The data says do the opposite. Without an FV profile, coaches are guessing — and players are wasting their pre-season.

Can grassroots clubs book squad testing?
Yes. Squad Analyser from £20 per athlete for groups of 10+. Individual reports within 48 hours.
